NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Get your groove on and ring in the New Year this evening in downtown New Brunswick.

You don’t have to head all the way up to Times Square to get a slice of the action. But be sure to bundle up and wear many layers of clothing, as tonight could be one of the coldest New Year's Eves on record.

At midnight, temperatures are predicted to be at a high of 9 degrees and a low of negative 1. In fact, all week long through tomorrow, the city has declared code blue, so warming centers across New Brunswick are open for those in need of shelter.

Should you decide to brave the cold, come out to Monument Square at the corner of George Street and Livingston Avenue for a whole slew of activities, culminating at midnight with fireworks shot off from the roof of The Heldrich Hotel.

There’ll be music starting at 11:30 p.m. and over a dozen restaurants across town will be open late if you’re looking for a New Year’s snack.
