Premier Properties Celebrates its "Curb Appeal" in New Brunswick


New Brunswick, NJ -  Premier Properties of New Brunswick took home the prestigious Curb Appeal award for its 17 Mine Street apartment building at the New Jersey Apartment Association’s (NJAA) 24th Annual Garden State Awards.

Judged by a panel of multifamily (apartment) industry experts from New Jersey and beyond, the achievement distinguishes Premier Properties as one of the top property developer and management companies in the state.

“The caliber of this year’s winners is a true reflection of the level of professionalism our members bring to New Jersey’s apartment industry,” said David Brogan, Executive Director of NJAA.  “This award is direct recognition of Premier Properties commitment to resident satisfaction and professionalism."

“We are thrilled to have been recognized with this award. Our 17 Mine street apartment building is just one more feather in the ever improving cap of the City of New Brunswick,” added Mitchell Broder, President of Premier Properties of New Brunswick.

The apartments, located just off College Avenue, serve students at Rutgers University and the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. 

Former Rutgers student Julia Stoneham, who moved into her one bedroom apartment in August 2016, said the modern apartments were the perfect fit for her as she finished her studies. 

“It’s certainly much more quiet than the dorms,” she said, adding the amenities of a lounge and a gym in the building are a tremendous plus. “If I don’t want to walk to the gym on campus, there is a gym in the building.”

Broder said the complex features 26 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with contemporary appointments including high-end stainless steel appliance packages, the latest fire safety features and soundproofing.

The building also offers common amenities including hidden garage parking, bicycle racks, laundry facilities, a lounge and a gym.

The 17 Mine Street Apartment ties in with the ambitious College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative, made possible through a public-private partnership between the city, Rutgers, the NJ Economic Development Authority (EDA) and the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO). 

"We're honored to have a role in this historic revitalization of New Brunswick," Broder added.

Other development projects in the area include the Rutgers Academic Building, the Rutgers Honors College building, the Sojourner Truth Apartments and the Rutgers Eva and Arie Halpern Hillel House 

New Brunswick Mayor James Cahill said Premier Properties’ reliably brings attractive housing to the city’s off-campus neighborhoods, where there are still many old, worn homes that have accommodated generations of college students.

The development at 17 Mine Street, the mayor said, meets many of the needs and desires of those who want to live near the College Avenue Campus — modern amenities, safe development, ample parking and attractive, well-lit design.

“These types of smart projects are welcome additions to our community,” said Cahill.

NJAA is the trade association representing all facets of the multifamily housing industry, including market rate and affordable housing owners, managers and developers, as well as suppliers. NJAA’s membership owns and manages more than 200,000 apartments, providing quality housing to more than one million New Jerseyans.
