NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - About 75 volunteers from the Pentecostal Church of God removed an estimated 1,600 pounds of litter from the neighborhood surrounding the church on Paul Robeson Boulevard.

The church's ninth annual litter-removal event stretched from Paul Robeson Boulevard to Livingston Avenue, from Sandford Street to Wilton Street.

The event, which was held Sept. 21, began following an opening prayer by church pastor Luis Gonzalez.

New Brunswick's recycling coordinator Donna Caputo reviewed the safety guidelines before the event started.

The volunteers Pentecostal Church of God volunteers were organized by Norma Rodriguez.
