NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - To improve patients access to health, Saint Peter’s Healthcare System has joined with another company to arrange transportation to and from non-emergency medical appointments.

The hospital entered a partnership with RoundTrip, a two-year old Philadelphia-based company that schedules rides for people to make appointments for a long list of purposes.

“Lack of access to transportation is one of the most commonly cited reasons for patients missing appointments," said Leslie D. Hirsch, interim CEO and president of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System. "Working with RoundTrip enables us to expand our patients’ access to care by eliminating transportation as a barrier," Hirsch said.

RoundTrip is already working with other hospitals in New Jersey. One goal of the hospitals in entering these partnership is to reduce the number of no-show patients who miss appointments.

“We look forward to working with Saint Peter’s to not only expand access for patients to get to their appointments, but also to remove the operational burden of coordinating transportation,” said Mark Switaj, CEO and founder of RoundTrip.
