NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - A 29-year-old Woodbridge man who serves as a basketball coach at a Red Bank-based private training club has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a child.

Corey J. Pinto, who serves as a coach at Hoops America, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 12 criminal counts including aggravated first-degree sexual assault, according to a press release issued by Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christie L. Bevacqua and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department.

Pinto has also been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and five counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Woodbridge Police Department, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Marshals’ New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to the press release.

Police said that on multiple occasions in 2019, Pinto supplied the minor with marijuana and alcohol and engaged in sexual activity with the victim, who was known to him.

Pinto has been a basketball coach at US Hoops or Hoops America since 2010. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing.
