NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a local business on French Street that occurred Monday at about 5 p.m.

According to a press release distributed by Rutgers Police, two men entered the business on French Street between Cogswell Place and Florence Street and approached an employee.

One man displayed a firearm while the other removed cash from the register.

They fled on Comstock Street toward Jersey Avenue.

The employee was not injured.

According to the press release, the descriptions of the men are limited at this time.

The New Brunswick Police Department is actively investigating this incident and asks that anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time to contact the detective bureau at 732-745-5217.

The Rutgers Police Department also announced it is investigating an incident that occurred Sunday at 12:33 a.m. on Mine Street between College Avenue and Union Street.

A Rutgers student said he was approached by a woman. The woman then physically assaulted him before fleeing.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

No weapons were used in this incident.
