EDISON, NJ - Gov. Phil Murphy visited Middlesex County college on Thursday to speak with students about the Community College Opportunity Grant.
The grant pays tuition and fees for those students with an adjusted gross income of $65,000 a year or less.
He toured the college’s enrollment center in West Hall and spoke with Angelo Abreu, assistant director of Enrollment Services, Academic Advisor C.J. Mooney, Financial Aid Director Christopher Rodriguez, and students who have benefited from the program, Zaniah Brown, Nicole Early and Ellahenah Oneal.
Early said the grant significantly helped her ability to attend college.
Murphy said, “That’s what it was intended to do. We’re celebrating the first anniversary. We have one month to go for folks to get their applications in. We’re trying to widen the pool of the folks who can be impacted by this. You three are living example that this works.”
