NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Police are looking for the driver of a white pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Metuchen that has left a utility worker in critical condition.

The worker was struck while working at about 9:01 a.m. at the crosswalk at the intersection of Middlesex Avenue and Grove Street.

According to a press release from Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief David Irizarry of the Metuchen Police Department, the worker was taken to Robert Wood Johnson.

The worker, whose identity was not released by police, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.

The pickup truck has an extended cab with markings on the side and tailgate. Police said it might be a Nissan Frontier.

The driver fled the scene after striking the worker.

The vehicle appeared to have two occupants at the time of the time of the incident.

It is being investigated by Sergeant Robert Belluscio of the Metuchen Police Department and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
