NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A 63-year-old Highland Park man is facing charges of promoting prostitution after he allegedly approached two girls, ages 11 and 12, and propositioned them for sex at a convenience store.
Genaro Gutierrez was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of promoting prostitution in the first degree, two counts of luring in the second degree, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree, according to a press release from Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief Rick Abrams of the Highland Park Police Department.
On Tuesday at about 5:45 p.m., Gutierrez approached two juvenile females and propositioned them near the QuickChek at 130 Woodbridge Ave., police said.
The girls fled the area and informed their parents, who then notified the police. The area was searched by police in an attempt to locate the suspect.
Gutierrez was located Thursday, and arrested and charged, police said.

Gutierrez is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick pending a Detention Hearing.
