NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A Rutgers student was robbed Sunday night on Nichol Avenue between Handy and Seaman streets by a man who fled the scene, according to a statement issued by university police.

According to the release, the New Brunswick Police Department is investigating the incident that occured at about 10:03 p.m.

The victim told police that she was approached by a man who "forcefully removed an item of value" from her and then fled down Nichol Avenue towards Handy Street.

He is described as a dark-skinned man with no facial hair, a short haircut and wearing a blue basketball jersey with shorts.

No weapons were displayed in this incident and the woman was not injured.

The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time contact the NBPD Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
