NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Police are investigating an incident Thursday in which a pedestrian was struck and killed in Sayreville on Thursday.
The man, whose identity has not been verified, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 8 p.m., according to a press release from Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief John Zebrowski of the Sayreville Police Department.
The initial investigation by Patrolman Alvah Cox of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the man was struck as he was crossing Route 35. He was struck as the vehicle was traveling in the left lane of Route 35 South near the divider.
An autopsy is pending with the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation is active and is continuing.
