NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - A female student affiliated with the university was reportedly sexually assaulted when a man randomly walked into her dorm room on October 13, according to police.

The assault happened at around 4:30 p.m. in Mettler Hall on College Avenue, Rutgers police said in a university-wide crime alert.

The victim was sitting in her room with the door open, when an unknown man entered the room and forced himself on her, police said.

The man began groping and kissing the victim, police said, though she was able to physically distance herself from the man and demand him to leave, which he did.

Authorities describe the man as a thin, college-aged white male with blonde hair. No injuries were reported.

Rutgers police are asking anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time to contact the Rutgers Police Department Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
