The Borough of New Providence and American Legion Post #433 invite all to attend this year’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29, 2017. The parade will begin at 10 am, rain or shine, at Springfield and Central Avenues. Post 433 and the New Providence Community Activities Department have co-sponsored the town’s Memorial Day Parade for more than sixty-five years. The parade, as always, is in memory of those who have so loyally served their country in the armed forces.
The American Legion Post 433, New Providence High School Marching Band, New Providence Borough’s officials, Police Department and its Honor Guard, the Fire Department, and many other local civic organizations will march along the mile-long route ending at the Veterans’ Memorial Library. The parade will pause for memorial services at the Methodist and Presbyterian churches to conduct brief memorial services in honor of our town’s deceased veterans.
Immediately following the parade, American Legion Post #433 (next to the library) and the DeCorso Community Center (15 East 4th Street) invite everyone for Hot Dogs and light refreshments.
