My family moved to New Providence from New York City 20 years ago when our one-bedroom apartment could no longer accommodate our growing family.  We sought a community that we could afford, had great schools and a fairly easy commute into Manhattan. New Providence fit our criteria. I still remember the strong impression I had when we found our first house on Hawthorne Drive; I knew we had come home. New Providence had the feel of the Midwestern suburbs around Minneapolis and Chicago where my husband and I were raised, except it had much better pizza!

Since moving here, I have been an active volunteer jumping at every opportunity to help out at the pre-schools and public schools my children attended.  These experiences only served to deepen my appreciation for this place and my new neighbors and my efforts soon spilled to the community and many organizations in the area.  Service is in my DNA. It was instilled in me by my hard-working parents, who were both raised on dairy farms in Minnesota.  I follow their example of service in the community, schools and church.

Politics is not something I have pursued in my life.  I am an opera singer, stage director and music teacher.  But this past year I have seen a need in our town, and I am stepping up to serve.  I am running for New Providence Borough Council because it is time for the council to reflect the diversity, values and ideals of its citizens. Now is the time to give the citizens of New Providence a choice, new perspective and a new voice in who will govern our community.  I will bring my perspective as a mother, an educator, an artist and an energetic, concerned resident to the council.  I will work to help New Providence continue to be a desirable and affordable place to raise one’s familyMy running mate Keith Doll and I are eager to listen to your concerns, insights and suggestions. We will work hard and be your voice to help our community.

Coach Bottone Tribute

May 19, 2018

2017 Pioneer football players took on a tall task of filling a lot of open spots with not many returning players. We had 30 kids on our football team who all wanted to be there. With a new head coach who just came on board in late April, we had a lot of things to do without much time. Most people would say being on a 1-9 football team would be no fun and, at times, it wasn’t, but it was the ...
