All That Glitters: The Connection;s Dance Team Enjoys Golden Season

SUMMIT, NJ - Their coaches praising their talent and the fact that the girls "danced their hearts out," The Connection Dance Team has concluded a highly successful competition season, competing at 'Beyond The Stars', 'Dancers Inc.', and 'Starpower'.

The Glitter, Bronze, and Sparkle Teams competed at the beginner level at two of the three competitions, with highlights including Glitter’s fifth place overall for “Loud”, Sparkle’s seventh place overall for “Conga," several first place in category, and High Golds and 4 3/4 Stars all around.

The Silver, Gold, Acro, and Elite Teams competed at the intermediate level at all three competitions.  Highlights include tenth, two ninth, two eighth, fifth, and fourth place overall, in addition to the Elite Team’s “Little Me” ranking first place place overall. All six dances received Golds, High Golds, and 4 3/4 Stars in addition to several first place in category.

The six duet / trios competed at the intermediate level at all three competitions. Highlights include a Platinum score and Five Stars, fourth place overall and first place overall for “Tears In Heaven,"  a Platinum score, third place overall twice, and second place overall for “Sassy,”  second place overall for “The Party’s Just Begun,”  fourth place overall for “American Girl,” fifth place overall for “Here I Come,” and  seventh place overall for “Monster."

In addition, the team received several special judges awards including: Terrific Teamwork for Silver Team’s “Time Of My Life”; Captivating Connection for Gold Team’s “Skyscraper”; Pretty Pictures for “Skyscraper”; Smiles For Miles for Silver Team’s “Unwritten”; and Dazzling Divas for “The Party’s Just Begun” duet.

Coach Jessica Fascenelli Weisenbach received a Choreography Award for "Skyscraper" and the  Entertainment Award for “Time Of My Life." "Skyscraper" also received a Golden Ticket to the World Dance Championships.

 “Congratulations to the team on a great ending to a fantastic season. It has been an honor to see their confidence grow from their first practice through their last competition,” said Fascenelli Weisenbach.

Auditions for The Connection Dance Team’s 2017-18 season will begin June 16. Auditions for ages 5 - 8 will be held Friday, June 16 at 3:45 p.m., and auditions for ages 9+ will be held Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. Auditions for the Acro Team -- ages 8+ only -- will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 3 p.m.  Call backs will be held on Monday, June 19 and Tuesday June 20 at 3:45 p.m.

The Connection Dance Team’s mission is to build well-rounded dancers and encourages team building in a safe, fun and competitive environment. Dancers are selected by audition, and the team is made up of five levels of dancers ages 5 and up. All dancers will have opportunities to perform at competitions, community events, special events at The Connection. Practice begins in the fall and performances and competitions take place during the late winter and spring months. Members have the opportunity to compete in Solos, Duets, and Trios, and to be a part of the Elite Team.

WATCHUNG, NJ -The Watchung Borough Council voted on Thursday night  to settle its third round affordable housing obligation mandated by the state of New Jersey. Watchung Borough’s immunity from builder's remedy lawsuits  expires on June 30.
