The Alliance Repertory Theatre Company is proud to present “Trying” opening September 18 at MONDO in Summit under the direction of David Christopher. The cast of two in this poignant comedy by Joanna McClelland Glass includes Chris Gibbs and Emily Williams.

Based on the author's own experiences during 1967-1968, “Trying” is an intimate, charming two-hander about the final years of Judge Francis Biddle (Attorney-General to FDR ) and his new assertive young Canadian secretary. The play is a touching story of grace and humor.

The director, David Christopher shares “Having just finished directing the exciting VENUS IN FUR, it is a pleasure working on another two character play with equally excellent actors.  Chris Gibbs, who plays the real life Judge Francis Biddle who was Attorney General to FDR, adds great depth to the character since he is an historian, as well as a terrific actor.  Emily Williams, a charming and talented actress, embodies the feisty secretary from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan beautifully.  Working with them on this intricate pas de duex is a sheer delight.”
