CRANFORD, NJ -- The New Providence baseball team (3-3) dealt previously unbeaten Cranford its first loss of the season, 4-2, Friday afternoon.

Nate Scott continued his hot hitting with a home run, a single and two RBI for the Pioneers (3-3), Jack Connor had two hits and one RBI and Anthony Iannacone was 2-for-4 with a run scored. New Providence scored two runs in the first inning and then runs in the third and the sixth.

Three New Providence pitchers combined on a four-hitter. Dylan Bedder started and gave up two hits and one run in 3 1/3 innings. Andrew Shen worked 2 2/3 innings of one-hit ball with no walks and two strikeouts. And Dan McCarron earned the save with one inning, allowing one hit.
