Jon Gertner will speak about his latest book, “The Ice at the End of the World: an Epic Journey into Greenland’s Buried Past and Our Perilous Future” at the New Providence Memorial Library on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30 PM. The program is co-sponsored by the New Providence Sustainability Committee.
In “The Ice at the End of the World,” Gertner tells the riveting account of the explorers and scientists racing to discover the secrets that were previously locked in the rapidly melting ice sheet in Greenland - a harbinger of climate change. Gertner explains how Greenland has evolved from one of earth’s last frontiers to its largest scientific laboratory.
Jon Gertner is also the author of the New York Times bestselling book “The Idea Factory: Bell Labs and the Great Age of American Innovation” (2012). Gertner is a journalist, historian and frequent lecturer on technology and science history. His stories on science, technology and nature have appeared in several national magazines.
A book signing will follow the presentation, with a few copies available for purchase. You may also bring your own copy of “The Ice at the End of the World” or “The Idea Factory” to be signed.
