KENILWORTH, NJ - The New Providence boys basketball team rolled to its second consecutive win on the road getting past Oratory Prep, 65-58, on Tuesday and cruising to a 74-27 victory over Brearley.on Thursday.
After the anticipated match-up against the rivaling Gov. Livingston Highlanders was postponed last Saturday due to weather conditions, the Pioneers have improved their record to 4-4 and have gained needed confidence as they face a grueling schedule next week.
In Thursday's victory, 14 different players hit the boards. Sophomore Brian Kelly and Greg Meyers led the game each tallying 13 points and sank three 3-pointers apiece. Also contributing were: Sean Dillon with 7 points, Dylan Bedder with 6, Tyler DeGeorge with 5, Tim DiGugliemo, Thomas Mickel, Jonathan Romeo, and Jackson Barletta each with 4, Michael Barletta with 3 and Richie Wawzycki, Patrick Trezza and Chris Vass with 2 apiece.
Next week the Pioneers face a busy schedule hosting Roselle Park on Tuesday, Jan. 17 with a 7 p.m. tip off; travel to Arthur L. Johnson on Thursday, Jan. 19 with a 7 p.m. start; and host Metuchen on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
Note: The Super Saturday match-up with the Highlanders has been rescheduled to Sunday, Jan. 22 with a 2 p.m. start in the Blue gym at Gov. Livingston. The Lady Pioneers will open the day with a 11:30 tip off against the Lady Highlanders.
