NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Next week begins the season that counts for the Pioneers boys soccer season.

After finishing their regular schedule with a 6-9-1 record, New Providence heads into Monday’s North Jersey 2, Group 1 opening match coming off a 4-3 loss to Oratory Prep on Thursday.

The Pioneers picked up the No. 5 seed in their bracket, which features top-seeded Harrison and fellow Union County rivals No. 4 David Brearley and No. 2 Jonathan Dayton.

New Providence begins their section tournament with a home match against No. 12 Technology High School on Monday at 2 p.m. at Lieder Field.  The winner plays the victor of Brearley and No. 13 North 13th Street on Thursday.
