NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Celebrate the Fourth Of July again, tonight, Thursday, July 5, beginning at 7 p.m. Torrential rain on Wednesday, July 3, caused the borough to cancel the festivities planned for that evening and reschedule them for Thursday. The festivities on South Street begin at 7 p.m. and fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The event includes entertainment by DJ Souren of Club Souren on South Street. There will be “Chalk on South” (kids of all ages can get a free “bucket” of chalk to create art and messages on the street) and lots of fun for the whole family. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Please check or for any further updates.

The fireworks were made possible by the donation from event sponsor, Investors Bank. The event is also sponsored by Accent Printing, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Colonial Appliance, Hair Salon Body & Soul, Kapuscinski Luongo Architects, Martial Arts for Life, NJ Sharing Network, NP Downtown Improvement District, Souren Communications (sponsoring Club Souren DJ), Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and New Providence Business, which sponsors the Summer Concerts, Street Fair, Downtown Trick or Treating and Scarecrow Stroll, the Holiday Festival, and other community events.
