NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - "JCP&L has crews working in the area to address hazardous situations and work to restore power," said New Providence Police and Emergency Management in a Facebook post. "There are several areas in the Borough where downed lines are tangled in trees."

The New Providence EMO team reminds residents to never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.

"There are a large number of downed trees and lines, which we are working quickly and carefully to safely remove," said Mayor Al Morgan. "Emergency Management and DPW has been stellar as always. Please adhere to all barricades and cones for your own safety. If you have an emergency please call 911. Please report downed lines and loss of power to (888) 544-4877. We will get through this. Stay strong."
