NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Faith Lutheran Church of New Providence is hosting a concert to benefit Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss on June 7 at 4 p.m. as part of a new ministry partnership with Imagine.

"We are so grateful to Faith Lutheran Church for their support of Imagine and recognition of the need for grief support," said Mary Robinson, Imagine Executive Director. "Our overarching goal in all we do educationally and through our direct service is to create Good Mourning Communities and Good Mourning Sites in the community, where grief is normalized and where there is a deep understanding about the traumatic nature and prevalence of loss in children’s lives. Good Mourning Communities have high emotional intelligence with adults who know how to support and listen to children and adults who are grieving any type of loss and where the community connects children and families to available resources.  Faith Lutheran Church is such a place."

The event will highlight both music Ellington composed for his famous Sacred Concerts, as well as other Ellington favorites. The concert will benefit Imagine, a center for coping with loss, and will feature many of the top jazz players on the scene today, including many musicians who have played at Faith Lutheran Church in past years.   In the 15-piece band, led by Minister of Music John Girvin and trumpeter Max Morden, will also be alumni of both the Count Basie Orchestra and the current Ellington Touring Big Band.

There is no admission fee but donations are accepted at the door.
