Football: Urness Leads New Providence to Big Victory Over South Hunterdon

SOUTH HUNTERDON, NJ – New Providence senior running back Andy Urness scored two touchdowns to lead the Pioneers to an opening night, 34-0, victory over South Hunterdon on Friday.

Fellow senior running back Anthony Del Duca also scored on the ground, while sophomore quarterback Jack Barletta hit John Slater witb a 40-yard touchdown pass.

The Pioneers scored three first quarter touchdowns to jump out to a 20-0 advantage. They followed with touchdowns in each of the next two quarters en route to the five-score victory.

Barletta, making his first career start, added 70 rushing yards to his 143-yard passing performance.

New Providence returns to action next Friday when they visit defending division conference champion Belvidere.
