The Connection is hosting a free dance workshop on Saturday, November 5th from 1:00-2:30pm featuring the Broadway knockout, “Cats!”, led by Josephine Rose Roberts.
The workshop will start with a warm up focused on using the entire body, building the core and discovering the inner Broadway star in all participants. Next, Roberts will direct the class in a quick across the floor routine to find balance and teach movement through the space. Finally, the class will dive right in to learning Gillian Lynne’s original choreography of “The Jellicle Ball” from the hit musical “Cats!” currently playing on Broadway.
Dance experience is recommended but not required. Please wear socks or comfortable shoes as well as clothing you can move freely in. Come sweat, express your inner artistry through dance and learn one of the most iconic dance pieces ever created.
Josephine Rose Roberts recently moved to South Orange, NJ after finishing a five year run as “Regina” in Broadway’s smash hit musical, Rock of Ages. She was also seen as “Reno Who” in Broadway’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas, “Rumpleteazer” in the 25th Anniversary Tour of Cats and on PBS Kids The Electric Company as “Lottlie,” the dancing alien. She is an active member of Midtown Direct Rep, a theater company of Broadway and tv/film actors living South Orange/Maplewood NJ. A Proud Actors Equity member, she has her BFA in Musical Theatre with a Concentration in Dance from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
