NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- The New Providence girls basketball team needed overtime to keep its undefeated record intact with a 53-49 victory over Summit Thursday night.

Amy Maurer scored 15 points for the Pioneers (12-0), who fell behind by five points after one quarter, then closed to within two by halftime before the teams battled in a second half that was close throughout.

Meghan Lamanna scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds, Grace Kelly had eight points and three rebounds, and Lindsay Kinum collected seven points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals for New Providence. Kaitlyn Cumiskey was a defensive standout in the victory, coming up with five steals.

Olivia Lawlor had a monster game for Summit (6-5) with 32 points.
