NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Providence edged visiting Morristown-Beard Wednesday afternoon at Lieder Field, topping the Crimson 10-8.
A two-goal halftime advantage proved to be the difference for the Lady Pioneers during their quarterfinal match-up. They led 5-3 at the half, and went goal for goal in the second half to prevail under the sun at NPHS.
Senior Kate Marzynski led all scorers with four goals, and got some help from freshman leading scorer Kaitlyn Cumiskey who scored a trio of goals.
Seniors Danielle Arace and Sam Scott also chipped in with a goal apiece, and senior net-minder Sarah Zeto made 11 clutch saves for New Providence.
With the victory, the Lady Pioneers improve to an impressive 12-3 on the season, and they will look to advance to the sectional final when they take on the winner of top seeded and number two ranked in the state Oak Knoll and Kent Place, who battle for a spot against New Providence on Thursday.
