CHATHAM, NJ – Erin Fay’s sixth goal of the season came on the most opportune day for the New Providence girls’ soccer team.

Playing their third road game in a row, Fay beat Chatham’s goalkeeper in the first half for the game’s only goal, leading the Pioneers to a 1-0 victory over the Cougars.

Lexi Everton was credited with the assist on the goal. New Providence goalkeeper Jen Maluso made eight saves for her 11th victory of the season.

New Providence has two more games left before the state tournament. Their final week of play begins with a Tuesday match at Westfield before finishing the regular season on Thursday at Mount Saint Mary’s Academy.
