Great Eight: The Connection Unveils SummerFun Camp Themes; Registration for Community Tradition Now Open

SUMMIT, NJ - The Connection for Women and Families, continuing a community tradition that spans 70 years, is gearing up for their summer day camps programming, which will run from June 27 - August 24.

The camps provide children the opportunity to build friendships, play outside, learn to swim, learn a new sport, and enjoy their favorite activities all summer. Through performing arts, gymnastics, sports, swimming, and yoga to fine arts and STEM activities, children can select a camp targeted to their interests, or try something new that they have had their eye on.

The camps featured talented counselors who lead campers through a fun-filled day during the “SummerFun Camp” (9 a.m - 1 p.m.). Boys and girls. ages 3+. enjoy daily activities such as swim lessons, yoga, dance, gymnastics, STEM activities, sports, outdoor play, arts and crafts. Campers are grouped by age and rotate through the 30,000 square-foot building, outdoor recreation and playground facilities, plus a cutting edge gymnastics gym and indoor pool for a well-rounded summer camp experience. Each week of SummerFun offers something new with fun weekly themes, including:

Week One - "Carnival Week"

Water games, a dunk tank, face painting and pie throwing are just some of the activities campers will enjoy to start out the summer right.

Week Two - "Party in the USA"

Campers will tie-dye red white and blue t-shirts and participate in a patriotic parade in honor of Independence Day. The ice cream truck will also be stopping by for campers to pick their favorite frozen treat.

Week Three - "Animal Planet Week"

Have a blast with The Connection’s animal showcase, featuring "Shark Attack Day," and "Stuffed Animal Day."

Week Four - "Music, Movies & More Week"

Children will channel their inner celebrity, walking the red carpet, attending a “drive-in movie,” and having a blast at the dance extravaganza, complete with a photobooth.

Week Five - "Holiday Hoopla Week"

Celebrate a different holiday every day, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, and more.

Week Six - “Go for the Gold Week”

Celebrating the Olympic Games throughout the week, complete with Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Week Seven - "Around the World Week"

Discovering new locations,  campers will have a Hawaiian Luau, celebrate World Flag Day, and learn about Spain, Australia, and more.

Week Eight - "Spirit Week"

kids wrap up the summer by showing their team spirit during week eight with a Pep Rally between campers, Team Jersey Day, and Pajama Day.

In addition to SummerFun, The Connection also offers specialty afternoon camps from 1 - 4 p.m. and Extended Day Camps. The Sunrisers Camp is convenient for parents who need an early drop-off option. Sunrisers start their camp day at 7:30 a.m. and are escorted to their appropriate camp at 8:30 a.m. The Campers Club is a simple, easy way for children to wind down after a busy afternoon with board games, drawings, arts and crafts, and outdoor play until 6:00pm.
