The New Providence Reds baseball team used the long ball to pick up an 11-4 victory over the Jersey City Rays on Father’s Day. With the win, the Reds improved to 7-4 on the season.

The Reds lineup belted three home runs to lead the way in the win.

Catcher Will Anderson got the scoring under way in the top of the first inning with an opposite field two-run homer to give the Reds an early 2-0 lead. The early homer was Anderson’s league leading third homer of the season. He would finish the afternoon with three RBI’s and four runs scored.

The Reds would add two runs in the third as Tom Pavero smacked his first homerun of the season to extend the Reds lead to 4-0. With the Reds up 4-1 in the 5th inning, Joe Randazzo extended the Reds lead to 6-0 with a two-run single and sealed the win with a three-run home run in the 8th to put the Reds up 11-1. Randazzo would end the afternoon with five RBI.  

On the mound for the Reds, Peter House continued his strong start to the season, pitching six strong innings, while scattering five hits and striking out six while only allowing one run to improve to 4-0 on the season. His ERA now stands at 1.24 on the season.

The Reds return home on Sunday to host the Jersey Diamonds in a doubleheader beginning at 11:30am at Oakwood Park. Admission is free.
