Incident Involving Shots Fired, Carjacking, Accident, Fire on Route 22 East

UNION, NJ – After a report of shots fired at the Clinton Manor on Route 22 West, a suspect crossed the highway and carjacked a car at gunpoint in the Target shopping center early Wednesday afternoon. According to authorities, the suspect then drove the car onto Route 22 East, hitting a moving vehicle, which then hit a car pulled over on the side of the road. 

The suspect’s car continued on Route 22 East, after which it became involved in a fire by the Halloween City on Route 22 East by Michigan Avenue. Details on the fire are not yet available. Route 22 East from Michigan Avenue to Fairway Drive was closed.  Route 22 West went down to one lane. The suspect was apprehended. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
