The weather is getting cooler.  Football games have been scheduled.  It must be Marching Band Season!  Already The Pride & Class of New Providence High School has put in copious hours of Pre-Season practice and Band Camp rehearsal time to prepare for what looks to be a joyful year of performances.
This year the high school band’s field show is entitled “Joy!”, featuring music constituted from melodic strains of Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S. Bach, Joy To The World and The Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.  The treatment of these melodies is non-traditional and the band will be trying to elicit feelings of Joy through their performance on the field this fall.

As a special part of our schedule, the band will present its annual Fall Preview on Lieder Field on Saturday, September 29that 2pm.  This “performance” is a clinic for supporters of the Marching Band to gain a more complete understanding of the activity, but more specifically, how the show was designed and things to look and listen for in the band’s performance.  ALL are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Band is led this year by Drum Majors Samuel Kudman (’13) and Katie Canete (’14).  Captains are Natalie Fagan (’13 - Color Guard), Alex Agresti (’13 - Drums), Alexandra Esposito (’13 - Woodwinds) and Steven Bronocco(’13 - Brass).  Adrienne Cirrotti(’14), David Colby(’14), Michael Glendinning (’13), CailleyLaPara (’13) and Samantha Squeri (’13) are Sergeants-At-Arms this season.
