NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Business Community invites everyone to experience the New Providence Holiday Festival, featuring the traditional Christmas Walk. Presented by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, this event will take place downtown on Friday evening, Nov. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. and continue all day on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25.

“The Christmas Walk has always been a great event in town,” said Michelle Brugger from the New Providence Business Community.  “We wanted to make it even bigger and better this year, and get more of the community involved.  We are always looking for ways to thank the people who support us throughout the year, and this is fantastic way to do that.  We wanted to plan a huge event to say a huge thank you.  We hope everyone will come down to enjoy the festivities.”

South Street, part of the Village Shopping Center parking lot, and the Adams Shopping Center front parking lot will be closed for the event on Friday night. Streets and participating businesses will be open the next day with specials and offers for Small Business Saturday. Santa will be arriving at the Centennial Park gazebo downtown for photos at 10 a.m., too. This event aims to engage the whole community, as well as draw visitors from the surrounding area to downtown New Providence.

On Friday night, adults and kids can have dinner in one of our delicious restaurants and then enjoy the downtown festivities featuring ice carving demonstrations, fire dancers, real snow, toy soldiers, games, prizes, photo opportunities, a money grab booth, strolling carolers, sand art, glow cotton candy, great music, and entertainment.  In addition, everyone can get a suitcase and have it stamped as they “travel around the world” and learn about different cultures and winter celebrations.

Keeping with New Providence tradition, Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. at Provident Bank on South Street with the New Providence Fire Department and the 149 member award winning New Providence High School Marching Band will play holiday music while leading the Christmas Walk through downtown. Local businesses are participating with entertainment, activities, treats, and giveaways. The evening culminates with a fantastic firework show at 8 p.m. sponsored by NP Fuel.

Come back on Small Business Saturday and every time you "Shop New Providence," you will earn a chance to win one of four Shop New Providence Raffle Baskets filled with gift certificates and merchandise from local businesses. Santa will be checking into Centennial Park at 10 a.m. to visit with the children. Check back with TAPinto New Providence for full list of SBS participating businesses and specials.

This event is presented by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and generously sponsored by Braunschweiger Jewelers, Ferdinand Jewelers, Jersey Fine Wines, Lantern Hill, Lassus Wherley, New Providence Downtown Improvement District, NJ Sharing Network, NP Fuel, Orangetheory, Overlook Medical Center, Souren Communications, and TAPinto New Providence
