NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The soon to be unveiled New Providence Community Garden was installed Saturday near the New Providence Tennis Courts on Springfield Avenue.
A project initiated by the New Providence Sustainability Committee received funding from BASF as well as a Union County Means Green Community Garden Grant that will match up to $1,500.
Going for his Eagle Scout, Jonathan Romeo and his Eagle Scout Project Team of volunteer Boy Scouts installed the garden under the guidance and assistance of the New Providence DPW.
"It was really great working today alongside really great kids, Jonathan Romeo, DPW, Councilman Robinson, and Jonathan's dad, Michael Romeo," said Mayor Al Morgan. "A Community Garden is a great project and a beautiful addition to New Providence."
"This was a group effort for the benefit of New Providence residents," said Councilman Robert Robinson. "We are open for business!"
The project was completed through the efforts of the New Providence Sustainability Committee, New Providence DPW, Jonathan Romeo and Eagle Scout Project Team of volunteer Boy Scouts, Mayor Al Morgan, Councilman Robert Robinson and Raj Seth.
