NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Summit Medical Group Foundation announces Julienne Cherry as the new Executive Director to lead the organization. Cherry joins Summit Medical Group Foundation (SMGF) with more than 20 years of experience as a nonprofit director working within underserved communities. She officially began her new role on January 19, 2021.
“We are thrilled Julienne has joined us to lead SMGF. Over the past year, SMGF assisted many members of our community in gaining access to healthier food options, COVID testing, and other health care screenings and education. Julienne’s passion for creating a positive impact on the underserved will enable us to continue to expand the reach of our Foundation to the members of our community who need us most,” said Rebecca Levy, Esq., President, Board of Trustees.
Most recently, Cherry served as Executive Director at Court Appointed Special Advocates of Union County (CASA), where they trained volunteers to advocate for youth in foster care. She led the team to an all-time record number of children served. With a keen focus and commitment to developing innovative programs that support underserved communities, she has demonstrated her ability to drive performance and program improvement, while delivering quality initiatives. Cherry is regarded as a visionary leader and excels in gaining community support, developing key coalitions, and building relationships with a shared sense of purpose.
Cherry partnered with SMGF in her previous role as Director of Agency Relations at the Community Food Bank of NJ. While there, Cherry worked with SMGF and community volunteers on the Food, Health, Hope: An Answer to Diabetes program. She is passionate about SMGF’s core mission and has committed much of her career to improving the lives of the underserved population.
“I’m so excited to join the SMGF team,” expressed Cherry. “I’m even more excited to expand our work in underserved areas and continue to reach more people. We can collaborate with other health systems that have mobile units to help provide more access to care across the state of New Jersey.” In her new role at SMGF, Cherry will be focused on expanding the organization’s programs and services in the communities of the greatest need.
