NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – The Borough Council accepted the resignation of Lieutenant Justine Kennedy and appointed Gabriella Dos Santos as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) among other personnel changes at its July 16 meeting.
Kennedy will be ending her 25 year career at the New Providence Police Department as she is planning to retire as of Sept. 1, 2018. Councilman Robert Robinson complemented her on her long tenure with the borough. “We are fortunate for having had Justine for 25 years,” he said. Mayor Al Morgan noted that Kennedy presently runs the Police Department’s Junior Police Academy for children.
The borough has also ended its long search for a new CFO as it appointed Dos Santos as CFO/Treasurer. She will be replacing Ronald Angelo who will resign at the end of July. Dos Santos is set to begin her four year term on Sept. 1.
Robinson explained that he Finance Committee had interviewed Dos Santos and the committee was very impressed with her resume. Councilwoman and a member of the Finance Committee, Nadine Geoffroy, noted that Dos Santos has a great background and she presented herself as an effective and forward thinking candidate for the position. Geoffroy also complemented her interpersonal skills. “She will be bringing a lot of good quality to the town,” she said. Dos Santos previously worked as the CFO of Harrison, NJ.
Additionally, the council accepted the resignation of Nicole Sarna, Administrative Assistant for the Administration Department. Sarna is “a great employee” who has worked 10 years for the borough, Robinson said. Sarna is taking a Deputy Clerk position in Summit.
