March 1 @ 3:00 PM - Paracord Compass Teen Take & Make (Teens)

Come to the library foyer to grab a craft kit to make your own paracord compass bracelet so you can always find your way. For students in grades 6-12 (may be too difficult for younger children). Craft kits are first-come, first-served. Please only take one kit per teen.

March 4 @ 5:30 PM - 6 PM - Among Us with the Library (Teens)

Who are the Imposters? Join with the NP Library for a few games of Among Us. We’ll open a Discord server so you can chat within the game and in Discord to team up. Open to NP teens age 13-17 who have a current NPML Library card. Email npmlteens@gmail.com with your first & last name, grade and date of birth for the Discord invite.

March 4 @ 7 PM - Declutter with Jamie: Sentimental Things (Adults)

If you have trouble letting go of your treasures, collections, and sentimental objects, this program is for you! Author and organizer Jamie Novak reveals her signature steps to solve the mystery of what to do with sentimental items. Then she’ll guide you through a live mini decluttering session over zoom. March 8 @ 3:00PM - Pick Up March Teen Take Out Boxes (Teens)
If you signed up and received confirmation for the March box, check your email to see when yours is ready to be picked up in our library foyer. Keep the goodies, just return the library book when you finish!

March 8 @ 3:30 PM -  Virtual Club Phoenix (Kids)

Club Phoenix is online! In this program kids will learn about science, engineering, and logical thinking. Watch a variety of cool science experiments and learn how you can do them at home! This program is run by teen volunteers, who are passionate about sharing their love of science and STEM with younger children. Videos will be posted once a month at 3:30 pm on the library's YouTube channel:

March 8 @ 7 PM - 9 PM -  Baseball Discussion Group (All Ages)

Discuss teams, players and issues of the sport over Zoom with other baseball fans. Kids and parents are welcome to join this group of mostly seniors. To join the baseball group, email the library at rsvp@newprovidencelibrary.org.

March 9 @ 3:30-4:30PM - Hand Lettering Workshop with Swetha Shenoy of The Paisley Corner (Students Grades 3-6 )

Learn the art of drawing beautiful letters and create your own hand-lettered artwork. Once you have learned the basics of hand lettering, you can create for a lifetime. Use this fun technique to personalize cards, gift tags, place cards, and even your journal! The possibilities are endless! Email NPMLChildrens@gmail.com to register.

March 9 @ 7 PM - Virtual Read to a Dog (Kids)

Join us on Zoom and practice reading aloud to trained Seeing Eye dogs and puppies.  Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to receive the link.  For children in grades 2 and up.

March 15 @ 3:30 PM - Origami Club (Kids)

Learn all about origami and how to make your own creations right at home! This program is run by teen volunteers, who are passionate about sharing their love of science and STEM with younger children. For children in grades 3-4. Email NPMLChildrens@gmail.com to register and receive the Zoom link.

March 16 @ 10:30 AM - Book Group (Adults)

The book group will discuss the historical novel “The Sleeping Dictionary” by Sujata Massey over Zoom. Copies will be available to check out at the circulation desk a month in advance.  To join the book group, email the library at rsvp@newprovidencelibrary.org.

March 17 @ 3:30-4:30PM - Pringles STEM kits and DIY smartphone speaker (Teens)

Pick up a can of Pringles for a fun and tasty STEM challenge! Take pics of your best Pringles arches, then eat your experiment! When finished, follow instructions on how to upcycle your empty Pringles can to make a speaker for your smartphone. Science, snacks and music? Yes, please! Email NPMLTeens@gmail.com to register.

March 18 @ 3:30 PM - Tenafly Nature Center Presents: Remarkable Raptors (Kids)

Meet a live hawk and owl and discover how amazing birds of prey are. Weather permitting, this program will take place on the front lawn. Social distancing is required. Please feel free to bring a blanket or chair. Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to register. Open to all ages.

March 19-March 20 - New Jersey Makers Day Live! (All Ages)

This free livestream event will feature daily keynotes and virtual hands-on maker and STEM workshops for all ages for 3 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, email the library at rsvp@newprovidencelibrary.org.

Plus, register for NJ Makers Day take-home kits for adults, teens and children.

March 22 @ while supplies last - Harry Potter Surprise Book Boxes (Grades 3-8)

Complete the Google Form on our website to reserve your Harry Potter Surprise Book Box! We'll ask your current grade and reading level, then we'll put together a cool box filled with fun surprises for you, including a Harry Potter library book. Which book you get will be a surprise! We’ll email you when your box is ready to be picked up. Return the book to the library when you're finished, but you keep the rest of the goodies!

March 23 @ 3:30 PM - Virtual Timed LEGO Build (Kids)

Participate in our fun LEGO build challenge over Zoom! You will be given several building prompts and a time limit to complete each one! After each build we'll share our creations! Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to register. All ages.

March 29 @ 10 AM - Grow & Glow Terrarium (Kids)

Care for your own mini ecosystem!  Kits are limited and must be reserved.  Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to reserve your kit.  For children in grades 3-5.  Only 1 kit per family.

March 29 @ 3:00PM - Signup for April Teen Take Out boxes (Teens)

Teen Take Out is a monthly box of fun for NP teens in grades 6-12 with a current NPML library card. Each month, we put together a box for you including fun treats like snacks, crafts, bookmarks, buttons, stickers and more. Plus, we select a YA Fiction book for you based on your answers to our questionnaire! Use our Google form to sign up for the April box on Mar 29. March 29 @ 7 PM - The Whys and Whens of Car Maintenance (Teens & Adults)

This virtual class with Chaya Milchtein will answer your fundamental car ownership and maintenance questions. Learn what repairs your car needs to keep running, and when, and why.
