NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - In a message from Mayor Al Morgan at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, he said storm "damage is extensive and widespread throughout our borough and the surrounding area. JCP&L worked through the night and are out in force this morning trying to restore power to our borough."

He confirmed the downtown, Mountain Avenue, and surrounding areas are still without power.

"Please hang in there," he said and reminded residents, "if you venture out, please proceed with extreme caution, adhere to all barriers, barricades, and cones, and avoid all downed wires."

If you are without power and need to charge your devices, the Recreation Gym on Academy Street will be open to you today 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a charging station. Please wear a mask and adhere to social distancing requirements. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
