Dear Editor and New Jersey Residents:

Mayor Colleen Mahr of Fanwood and I held a commemoration for gun violence victims on Dec 13th, during the 3rd anniversary weekend for the Sandy Hook tragedy and the birth of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. We stood proudly with 238 people in Fanwood who came from all over our state, including many of our local and state officials, local religious leaders, volunteers and community members to honor victims and talk about introducing an agenda for change.

On behalf of Moms Demand Action-Union County, we echo Mayor Mahr's statement: "I was pleased to see President Obama take executive action on sensible gun control measures that do not infringe on a person's Second Amendment rights, yet align with the Mom's Demand Action theme for We Can End Gun Violence:  Hope and Change for 2016."

President Obama, we at Moms Demand Action-Union County, whole-heartedly thank you for leading our nation with active enforcements on gun responsibility, resources for mental health, to help prevent future tragedies. We feel that our voices at the organization were heard, and you remind us of your HOPE campaign that got your elected. YES WE CAN end gun violence. Thank you for running this marathon with us.
