NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — In its September “Best Places to Live” issue, arriving in subscribers’ mailboxes this week, New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked New Providence No. 47 among its “Top 100 Towns in New Jersey.”

In compiling the list, researchers at Leflein Associates, an independent research firm, considered five categories to represent the quality of life in New Jersey’s municipalities: home values, property taxes, crime rate, school performance and a “lifestyle factor,” the magazine says in its September issue.

Due to a lack of statistically significant data, towns with populations under 1,500 were dropped from the survey, it said.
