SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The New Providence 10U baseball team got through the pool play portion of the District 12 tournament unbeaten, defeating South Orange, 7-2, on Thursday in the final game before the elimination round begins.

New Providence's victory gave the Pioneers a 4-0 record in the districts and ensured them of the top seed in Pool A. South Orange came into Thursday's game at Booth Field in Scotch Plains with an undefeated record. South Orange is now 3-1 and the second seed in Pool A.

Zack DeGeorge came in to quell a South Orange rally and pitched three strong innings of relief for New Providence.

New Providence has beaten Westfield/White, Chatham and Berkeley Heights in addition to South Orange. The Pioneers' next game will be on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Booth Field against the winner of Saturday's Cranford-Westfield/Blue game.

The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1 at 5:45 p.m. at Booth Field.
