NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - With consistently good pitching and defense, the New Providence Pioneers 11U Gold Baseball team has staked out first place in the New Providence Gold League.

After a 4-3 victory over the Scotch Plains Renegades on Tuesday, the Pioneers are 4-0 in league play. New Providence has allowed just eight runs in its four victories, with its next game slated for Thursday night, July 2 at the Westfield Blue Devils.

The New Providence 11U Green team bounced back from a pair of weekend losses in the rain-shortened Branchburg Tournament with a 23-2 rout of North Plainfield on Monday night. The Pioneers 11U Green team has a 3-2 league record in the NPGL.
