NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Current high school administrator Vincent Carangelo is the new leader of New Providence athletics.
The former head boys lacrosse coach turned vice principal was approved to the Director of Athletics post by the New Providence Board of Education at their meeting on June 29.
“I am honored to have been named the new Director of Athletics for the New Providence school district,” Carangelo said. “The last eight years working in New Providence High School as a teacher, coach, and most recently the assistant principal have allowed me to witness first hand the incredible tradition, pride, and track record of success that is associated with both academics and athletics in this town.”
Carangelo replaces Rocco Constantino who left the school district after two years to pursue the athletic director position at Santa Barbara City College.
Prior to accepting the role as assistant principal at New Providence High School, Carangelo spent six years as a teacher and a coach in the district. He was the school’s first varsity boys lacrosse coach.
“I’m incredibly excited to begin this new role,” Carangelo said, “and will look to continue to expand upon the past successes of our student athletes, coaches and teachers.”
Carangelo will oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletics department beginning in August. He will continue in his assistant principal position until the end of July.
