
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence boys soccer team dropped the preliminary round game in the Union County Tournament to Union, 3-1, Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Sean Regan scored an equalizing goal in the 25th minute of a penalty kick to knot the score at 1-1.
However, Union ran away with the game in the second half, scoring two goals and denying the Pioneers a chance to come back.
With the loss, New Providence drops to 3-6 on the season and Union improves to 4-6-1.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday and face Summit on the road, while Union looks to win its fourth straight game overall against Elizabeth, Tuesday night.
