The Borough of New Providence is proud to be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the dedication of Centennial Park.  This special project was conceived and created solely by volunteers in an effort to develop a community meeting place. It was truly a labor of love.  Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Centennial Park evolved into a place of remembrance of the victims of the terrorist attacks on our country. Today our beautiful park is used for special events, concerts, shows, and other community gatherings.

Centennial Park also stands as testament to what people can accomplish when they work together toward a common goal. “We are very proud of what our citizens and volunteers have created,” said J. Brook Hern, Mayor.  “The park is a great example of Americans committing their time and talents to transform lives and communities across the nation. It is our hope that the park will not only pay tribute to those we lost, but also help educate future generations about the world we live in today.”

New Providence residents are invited to the Tenth Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Centennial Park. (Rain date is Thursday, July 12.) The ceremony begins at 6:30 PM, followed by music from the Tim Gillis Band and food donated by New Providence restaurants.

Sponsoring the event is The New Providence Business Community, which serves its members and supports the local community by funding and operating community events, such as the 5K Race, Farmers Market, Summer Concerts, Independence Day, Street Fair, and the Christmas Walk.  For more information about the New Providence Business Community or to become a member, go to .
