NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - It’s been a busy week for New Providence Democrats. In addition to holding their third general meeting this past Thursday, the week also included marching in the New Providence Memorial Day parade, the launches of websites and Facebook pages for their two borough council candidates, Jamie Baer Peterson and Keith Doll, and organizing their first big fundraiser of the election season.

Thursday’s general meeting included guest speaker, Mark Zinna, who is a New Jerseygubernatorial candidate. Mark currently serves on the borough council of Tenafly and offered the NP Democrats some interesting insights into elections, campaigning and the world of politics. The meeting also included borough council candidates, Jamie Baer Peterson and Keith Doll sharing their views and insights on how their campaigns are proceeding so far.

The evening concluded with information and excitement surrounding the group’s kickoff fundraiser event. The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, June 15th, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at Bottle and Bottega in Berkeley Heights. The cost to attend ranges from $65-$125 with sponsorship opportunities as well. NP Democrats also participated in this week’s Memorial Day parade. More than thirty members of the group marched despite the rainy weather. Many members held signs with pictures of their loved ones who had served in the military. Several club members walked the route back cleaning up any trash that was left on the streets and sidewalks after the parade concluded.

The next general meeting for the NP Democrats is scheduled for Thursday, June 29th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall. As always, on-site childcare will be provided for those attending the meeting.
