NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - After seven consecutive losses, the Lady Pioneers were looking to start their first winning streak of the year when they took on Oak Knoll Thursday afternoon, however they were unable to hold onto a lead as they fell to their neighbors from Summit, 37-32.

A dominant second quarter that saw the home team shut out the visiting Royals gave New Providence a 17-11 advantage at the break, led by a team-high 10 points from Alexa Boyle.

A solid third quarter had the Lady Pioneers leading 24-19, however a fourth quarter serge from Oak Knoll gave them a five-point victory on the road, with Emily Archer leading the way with 22 points.

Kaitlyn Cumiskey tallied 9 points for the lady Pioneers and Olivia Faucher added four to contribute to the effort.  Alyssa Nook almost completed a double-double as her 9-point, 12 rebound afternoon left her one-point shy of the feat.

It’s a quick turnaround for NP as county foe Union hosts the Lady Pioneers Friday at 4 pm, with New Providence looking to get back on track and get back in the winning column.
