New Providence H.S. Boys Take First, Girls Take Third, in Sectional Cross-Country Meet

JAMESBURG, NJ - The New Providence High School boys and girls cross-country teams took first place and third place, respectively, at the Central Jersey, Group I Meet at Thompson Park on Saturday, Nov. 9. The sectional victory for the boys team was their first since winning the North Jersey, Section 2 title in 2007, and their sixth overall.

The boys varsity top five averaged 17:31 over the 5K (3.1 mile) Thompson Park course, which was 42 seconds faster than last year’s performance and more than one minute faster than 2011. Leading the boys' team to the title were individual medalists Jordan Price in first place, David Adams in seventh and Michael Wolak in eighth place. 

The girls varsity top five averaged 21:15, which was 34 seconds faster than last season and 70 seconds per runner faster than 2011. Setting the pace for the girls' team were individual medalists Megan Friscia in fourth place, Megan Sullivan in sixth place and Rebecca Blitt in seventh place.
