NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – The New Providence High School football team will open its varsity season on Thursday, Sept. 12 at home against Brearley of Kenilworth.
The Pioneers are coming off an 8-3 season under head coach Joe Carollo. They reached the second round of the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 1 playoffs, where they lost to Roselle Park—the team which handed New Providence two of its three losses in 2012.
Junior quarterback Jack Harvey and halfback/linebacker C.J. Kliesch are among the players who’ll help steer the team’s “spin” offense, often run out of the shotgun formation.
New Providence plays in the Union Division of the Mid-State 38 Conference, where it finished in second place in 2012.
