NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - New Providence Memorial Library’s annual Summer Reading Programs start in June this year with the program for adults. This year’s theme, “Escape the Ordinary," starts on June 1 with weekly discussion questions. It runs through July 31 with grand prizes awarded at the end-of-program party on July 30.
There are two theme-related events during June and July as well as an escape themed movie fest in July.
Discussion questions will be posted on the library’s GoodReads and Facebook pages for online participants. Discussion question forms will also be available in the library for those who don’t want to participate online. Responses to weekly questions will be eligible for weekly prize drawings. Registration is not required and there is no required reading list. Just respond to each week’s question based on what you’re currently reading and you’re entered into the week’s drawing.
Prizes have been donated by New Providence businesses and include gift certificates to Cartridge World, A&P, Prestige Diner, NP Fuel and McGrath’s. A drawing for grand prizes will take place on July 30th at the end-of-program party. They include gift certificates to Feathers Salon, M&M Liquors and a $25 VISA gift card donated by TAPinto Alternative Press. Other prizes were donated by Starbucks and Rebecca Perlaman Coniglio, LCSW.
Theme-related events start on June 7 at 3 p.m. with Ann Frommer, who will be talking about her new book, “TailgunnerR3," the second novel in the Tailgunner series.
Mary Kao will be on hand July 14 at 7 p.m. for a presentation entitled "Escape the Ordinary with Origami." Kao is an origami artist and storyteller. It’s suitable for adults and kids ages 12 and up.
